Since we last posted information on "Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War", we have found that there will, in fact, be no online mode. The developers are holding off this time so they can give it full attention in a later game. Also, while Ace Combat 4 was compatible with the PS2 HDD to improve loading times, the fifth in the series will remove this support, with the developers' promise that the game will load at least as quickly as Ace Combat 4 without a hard disc drive.
Story-wise, the game takes place about 2.5 years after AC04. Kei Nagase, the female pilot who has featured in the series since the second game, makes a return, and has undergone a makeover thanks to the Tekken designers. Another couple of pilots called Bartlett and Landers are also introduced in this week's Famitsu.
The game will feature more than 50 aircraft licenses. Detailed in Famitsu this week are the A-6E, Hawk T.1A, Su-27, F-14D, EA-18G and F-16C. High quality screens are expected soon, but here are some scans from Famitsu in the meantime.
