The new real-time strategy role-playing hybrid to feature six playable races and 64,000-unit battles; due in 2005.
Since the advent of the hero characters in Warcraft III, a number of real-time strategy games have added dashes of role-playing flavor into the game mix. Heroes of Annihilated Empires, a new RTS from GSC Game World, will attempt to dish out an entire serving. Players will go from controlling a single character to waging battles with up to 64,000 units. The game is scheduled for release for PCs in 2005.
At the beginning of Heroes of Annihilated Empires, players will control a single character from 18 different hero types and six playable races.As the player completes quests and explores dungeons, the hero will become stronger and more powerful. Eventually, the player will gain the ability to build bases and train troops and will be able to enter into massive battles with 100 unit types. .
Each of the six races in the game's original fantasy world will have its own landscape. The three races revealed so far are the Undead, the Druids, and the Ice folk .While GSC has not released any details on the storyline, it should play a major part in the game and will be broken into a trilogy.

Undead
People of Zelur and En'liad have got used to wizards, magic and miracles. But practically anybody from ordinary inhabitants of these grounds cannot to the end get used up to that superstitious horror which causes necromagic, or Dead magic. Nobody knows where sources of this dark art of manipulations with dead essences and their showers were concealed.

Elves
Primeval forests, crystal-clear lakes with bluish-gray water, mysterious thickets and beech-woods pierced with sun rays - this is the world of elves, their Motherland and their Home. By no means, elves are one of the most fascinating races of En'liad. On the one hand this civilization inseparably connected with nature, its forces, and filled with its magic. Elves indissolubly connected with everything which lives, moves, rises and dies. On the other hand this race is not so wild and elves are very interested in sciences, crafts and magic. But, of course, everything, what had been touched be their hands, has an imprint of their essence.

Mechanicians
By the will of fate, mechanicians, also known as toilers, the least bellicose race in Zelur, had the most uneasy kind of history. Originally it were humans who founded and consequently followed all the four magic workshops of the Universal. But one day, while travelling along the western coast, Doctus, Archmaster of the Mechanicians' workshop, had to give a hand to this little brave and previously unknown people to ward off the attack of mountain trolls aiming to destroy the settlement of the former. When invited by thankful toilers to stay in their encampment to see how they live, Doctus discovered that the interests of his and the toilers are largely common. Doctus and the midgets were into machinery, chemistry, physics and other sciences disregarded by the magic Universal. The shortish people lived inside a hill called Burrowslab and was pretty skilled in smithery and metallurgy.

Ices
To survive in severe conditions of the north, much is needed. Strong will, great physical strength, and either desire, or weighty reason to settle near the eternal ices. Winds and severe frosts it’s usual business for Ices. Besides, they cannot imagine their life without difficulties. In life of this gloomy people there is nothing superfluous, Ices are considered art primitive and customs-wild. Heavy conditions of existence and magic of cold have imposed print on them - Ices are very strong physically, gloomy and disciplined. Many of those who are poorly familiar with an Ice’s life consider them as descendants of ice demons, and not groundless - in fight Ices are terrible, counterbalanced and ruthless. But they were and remain usual people, as a rule, very tall, with a powerful constitution, light skin, blue and grey or dark blue eyes. Their hair is light-brown or snow-white color.

Goblins (neutral race)
Long ago, when Arch Mage Octon was young, and En'Liad wasn't discovered, goblins have lived at the upper decks of the caverns which were situated at the numerous mountains. But the time doesn't stand still and Octon, who tries to hide Magic Crown, and Necros, who pursues him, have come to En'liad. Octon was killed and Necros was cursed by the Arch Mage. From that day undeads have occupied bowels of the Earth and goblins had to escape from mountains. Escape on the surface. It's turned out to be that life outside the caverns is not so bad and goblins have occupied the whole territory of the island. These malicious creatures adjusted to all living conditions. They can't be found only at the snows of the Highlands.
